The guitar is one of the most universal musical instruments and doesn’t really need a description but let’s do it anyway. It is a wooden bodied instrument with a fretted neck and 6 strings.
The traditional guitars with flat tops have a large hole that sinks into a hollow compartment. When a string is plucked, the sound produced resonates into the box. The hollow compartment then extrapolates the sound, improving the volume of different pitched sounds.
When playing the guitar, your dominant hand should pluck or strum the string to continue producing a rhythmic sound. The wires mounted on it must be pressed against the frets to produce different notes.
There are a various types of guitars around the world. The traditional, classical guitar that has its origins in Spain, the electric guitar used by all pop/rock bands where sound is amplified/distorted by electrical power, and the Hawaiian guitar that is similar to the Spanish guitar, but has a fretless neck, making it a perfect instrument for Indian music, as showcased by Grammy Award winner, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.
